I am from hairbrush,
from L’Oreal and Oral-B.
I am from looking at the cold,
white snow on the pathway to the forest,
and the red blinking lights on top of the
windmills; as darkness begins to fall
I am from the honey suckle bush that
hummingbirds like to feed from,
the bright blossoming spring flowers,
and the fresh spring air.
I am from making whipped cream cheese
dipped in semi-sweet chocolate, and
flavoured with our favourite extracts at
Christmas time, and blue eyes,
from Aunt Deb and Ruston and Eggleston.
I am from the staying up late in the evening
and sleeping in through the morning
From "don’t touch," and "it’s hot!"
I am from religion of no kind,
not attending church, and
no opinion of what god is.
I’m from London, Canada,
Ireland, England, and Scotland,
roast chicken and barbequed steak.
From the long summer days
spent travelling to and from tractor pulls
with fellow tractor pullers along with my family.
The loud engines roaring,
and the crowded stands,
and the winter months snowmobiling
with family and friends.
I am from the box of pictures
downstairs in the basement
as well as the picture frame
hanging on the wall.
